David Mikics

B. 1961
A scholar trained in Renaissance literature, David Mikics is interested in 20th-century literature, literary theory, and Continental philosophy. Mikics earned a BA from New York University and a PhD in English from Yale University.
 
His books include The Limits of Moralizing: Pathos and Subjectivity in Spenser and Milton (1994), The Romance of Individualism in Emerson and Nietzsche (2003), A New Handbook of Literary Terms (2007), Who Was Jacques Derrida?: An Intellectual Biography (2009), and The Art of the Sonnet (2009) with Stephen Burt.
 
Mikics is a professor in the English department and Honors College at the University of Houston. In 2004 he was a Fulbright professor in Leipzig, Germany.
