Karla Huston is the author A Theory of Lipstick (Main Street Rag Publications, 2013), which received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Wisconsin Library Association. She is also the author of eight chapbooks of poems, including Grief Bone (Five Oaks Press, 2017). Her chapbook, Flight Patterns won the Main Street Rag Chapbook Contest in 2003. Her poems have appeared in magazines and journals, and in many anthologies, including The Doll Collection (2017) and Rabbit Ears: TV Poems (2015).

Huston’s work has garnered many awards, including a Pushcart Prize for the poem “Theory of Lipstick.” She has been granted residencies at Ragdale Foundation and the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference. She serves as the Wisconsin poet laureate (2017-2018).
