Kenneth Carroll

Based in Washington, DC, poet Kenneth Carroll is the author of the poetry collection So What! For the White Dude Who Said This Ain’t Poetry (1997). He has been a contributor to Beltway Magazine, and his work is included in the anthologies In Search of Color Everywhere (1994), American Poetry: The Next Generation (2000), and The Lion Speaks: An Anthology for Hurricane Katrina (2006).

Carroll has received the Washington, DC, Mayor’s Arts Award for Service to the Arts, the Literary Friends of Washington Award, and a literary fellowship from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. Active as a teacher and in arts organizations, Carroll has been coordinator and director of the DC WritersCorps and was a founding member of 8Rock Writers Collective and a past president of the African-American Writers Guild.
