Poetryfoundation.org is currently seeking a full-time archive editor. Candidates must have extensive editorial experience; excellent writing, editing, and critical skills; and an in-depth knowledge of poetry. They must also be willing to relocate to Chicago.
The archive editor will be responsible for building and managing the online poetry archive on poetryfoundation.org, including selecting and categorizing its poems, acquiring and editing articles about its poems and poets, and helping determine its user interface. Those with a background in journalism, library science, or editing are particularly encouraged to apply.
Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of classic and contemporary poetry.
- Ability to write and edit prose, including literary journalism and essays.
- Good leadership and managerial skills, as well as a general talent for
communication and teamwork.
- Extensive experience managing complex editorial or web projects is preferred, including some understanding of information architecture for websites.
- Ability to work under a deadline and to complete administrative tasks meticulously.
- Ability to do fast, accurate research, especially on the Internet.
- Proficiency and knowledge of HTML and web publishing is a plus.
