The Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics administration responds to protests
As the students and alumni of Naropa University’s Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics continue to blog and tweet their concerns over the school’s recent changes (23 members of the staff were laid off last month), Newwest.net reports that the school’s administration has finally entered the conversation. Responding to a list of demands from the protesters, Stuart J. Sigman, the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs issued his statement, beginning:
Concern has been expressed that major decisions have been made concerning the future structure of Naropa University’s academic departments and programs, without involvement of the full university community. I’m writing to assure you that no such decisions have been made and won’t be undertaken without fully engaging students, faculty and staff so all concerns and viewpoints can be considered.
