Executive Director of Poets House, Lee Briccetti, guides patrons through the 112 items on loan from New York for Bettissima: Treasures from the Poets House Elizabeth Kray Archives as well as reads from “Betty” Kray’s dazzling correspondence with poets such as Jean Valentine, June Jordan, Adrienne Rich, E.E. Cummings, and W.H. Auden. Dubbed the “Patron Saint of Poetry,” Kray was instrumental in shaping the contemporary presentation and appreciation of poetry. Refreshments will be available.

Lee Briccetti is a poet and the long-time Executive Director of Poets House. Born in Italy and raised in the United States, her work explores issues of place—from Rome to New York City—as well as natural history and community building for justice. She attended Sarah Lawrence College and The University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Briccetti has won a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship for Poetry and a Fellowship from the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. She has been a resident at the MacDowell and Millay Colonies and a Visiting Artist at the American Academy in Rome. She is the author of Day Mark (2005) and Blue Guide (2018), both published by Four Way Books.
