Get a sneak peek of Dances with Words and Music before it premieres at the 2019 Ravinia Festival. Emmy Award-nominated choreographer Venetia Stifler and her dance company, Concert Dance Inc., perform and discuss the work-in-progress piece inspired by the innovative international dance icon, Ruth Page.

During World War II, Page toured her dances with words, in which she simultaneously embodied and vocalized the work of poets including Edna St. Vincent Millay, E.E. Cummings, Federico García Lorca, and Langston Hughes. Stifler’s Dances with Words and Music continues the conversation, using many of the same poems as in Page’s original work with a contemporary movement vocabulary.

Presented in collaboration with the Ruth Page Center for the Arts
