Join us for a reading with Danez Smith, the youngest person ever to win the Forward Prize for Best Collection (2018) for their collection Don’t Call Us Dead. Their honors also include a Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowship, a National Book Award nomination, a Lambda Literary Award, and a Kate Tufts Discovery Award. In addition, Smith has received fellowships from the McKnight Foundation, Cave Canem, Voices of Our Nation (VONA), and other organizations. They are a founding member of the multi-genre, multicultural Dark Noise Collective and a cohost of the Webby-nominated Poetry Foundation podcast VSAn ASL interpreter will be present.
