Join us for Poesía en Abril, an annual multicultural, multidisciplinary festival celebrating local, national, and international poetry in Spanish. This year, poet, translator, and winner of a prestigious Xavier Villaurrutia Award David Huerta is featured. His collections include El Jardín de la luz and El correo de los Narvales, dedicated to the work of Pablo Neruda. Juana Iris Goergen (Puerto Rico) is a poet and professor of Spanish, Latin American/U.S. Latino literature and peace studies at DePaul University, Chicago. Her poetry collections include La sal de las brujas (finalist for the Letras de Oro and published by Betania in 1997), La piel a medias (2001), and Las Ilusas/Dreamers (Vocesueltas, 2008). Goergen is the co-founder and co-organizer of Chicago’s Poesía en Abril.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Maya Islas will not be able to attend this event. Juana Goergen will read instead. Thank you for your understanding.
