Join us for the World Premiere of Walt Whitman & Federico García Lorca: An Extraordinary Encounter, in celebration of Walt Whitman’s 200th birthday. Adapted and directed by Iraida Tapias, An Extraordinary Encounter imagines the meeting of  two icons of Art History: Walt Whitman, revered as one of America's most significant nineteenth-century poets, and Federico García Lorca, one of the most important Spanish poets and dramatists of the twentieth century.

Ramon Camin Ybarra as Walt Whitman and Víctor Maraña as Federico García Lorca, accompanied by Samuel Ocean on the piano and lyrical singer, Camilo Rasquin. Each author’s work is presented in its original language with English and Spanish subtitles.

Presented by Water People Theater and The Poetry Foundation in collaboration with the American Writers Museum and the Instituto Cervantes of Chicago.
