ECOS Albany Park Open Mic
Drake Garden
4643 N Drake Ave, Chicago, IL 60625
This event is a part of ECOS: A Chicago Latine Poetry Festival
Have you written a poem, joke, song, or short story that you are dying to read out loud? Let the serenity of the garden calm your nerves and step up to the mic to share your words! All ages, experience levels, and languages are welcome. Registration for the open mic will happen in-person at the beginning of the event, with poetry being prioritized. Each reader will have three minutes to share their work.
We will provide blankets to sit on, but this outdoor event is BYOC (bring your own chair). The Poetry Foundation’s events are completely free of charge and open to the public. Drake Garden is a community park and garden space in Albany Park. Open mic performers will be reading on or in front of raised wooden platforms towards the back of the park facing the garden plots (backs towards Drake Ave.). The garden has a cobbled path that is about 35 inches wide that leads to this area of the garden. While the cobbled path is even, it does get narrow in some areas due to some plant overgrowth. Restrooms are available at Roosevelt High School at 3436 W Wilson Ave, a 5 min walk away. For more information about accessibility, please reach out to [email protected]
