Forms & Features Online with Lisa Low

All are welcome to a poetry discussion and creative writing workshop, “Reorienting the Audience through Ars Poetica,” created and led by Lisa Low.
In this session, we will explore the relationship between writer and reader through the form of the ars poetica. Before writing our own poems, we will read ars poeticas by contemporary American poets of color, discussing takeaways from the way these writers engage with, reorient, or even challenge their audiences.
Lisa Low’s poems have appeared in Copper Nickel, Ecotone, The Massachusetts Review, Poetry, The Southern Review, and elsewhere, and her nonfiction won the 2020 Gulf Coast Nonfiction Prize. She has an MFA from Indiana University and a PhD in creative writing and literature from the University of Cincinnati. Her debut chapbook, Crown for the Girl Inside, won the 2020 Vinyl 45 Chapbook Contest and is forthcoming from YesYes Books.
Registration is required; space is limited. We will do our best to accommodate everyone's wishes while allowing as many people to participate in these workshops as is possible. This program is for adult participants, aged 18 and older.
Closed captioning is available via Google Meet. We are happy to provide ASL interpretation.
