Forms & Features with Lara Mimosa Montes
Might it be possible to revive one’s relationship to poetics through the psychoanalytic framework of play? D.W. Winnicott, author of the canonical object-relations text Playing and Reality once said, “Play, like dreams, serves the function of self-revelation.” What can we learn about ourselves as artists when we turn towards the more playful aspects of literary practice?
In this generative and process-focused writing workshop, we’ll read poems and poetic texts (e.g., dream-logs, lists, cut-ups) that invite the fledglings in us to take a seat at the table. We'll also collectively embark on writing activities that court naïveté and spontaneity in an attempt to become a little—or a lot—less inhibited in our creative pursuits.
This workshop is for participants aged 18 and older, of all backgrounds and experiences with reading and writing poetry.
