Workshops & Discussions

Forms & Features with Leonora Simonovis

At Capacity
| 12:00 AM - 2:00 AM

In Latin, the word “context” means “to weave together.” But what, exactly, are we weaving together when we write poems? Why is context in poetry important? What can it teach us about what we read and write, and how?

In this generative workshop, we will read poems in which context related elements anchor the reader to a specific place, time, historical moment, or cultural background. We will put into practice what we learn by drawing from our own recurring themes, obsessions, and experiences, “weaving together” different moments in our lives that serve as points of connection to our audience.

This workshop is for participants aged 18 and older, of all backgrounds and experiences with reading and writing poetry.
