Forms & Features at the Poetry Foundation: Kimiko Hahn

| 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Poetry Foundation, 61 West Superior Street, Chicago, IL 60654mapMarker

This workshop will be on a quintessential Japanese genre, the zuihitsu. There is nothing equivalent in Western literature because this is not a form, but an actual genre, distinct from poetry and prose. One cannot categorize it at a glance the way one recognizes a sonnet, prose poem, hybrid text, or even a text message. One cannot just write spontaneously and call it a zuihitsu, as many have. Hahn has spent decades attempting to define this “formless form” and during this workshop, she will give away a great many of those secrets. This will be a supremely generative workshop!

This workshop is for participants aged 18 and older, of all backgrounds and experiences with reading and writing poetry.
