S.O.S. says Ugly Duckling Presse! The publisher of poetry, art books, dossiers, and all things magnifique is struggling to finance this next season's print-run. UDP is in the middle of a fundraiser called "Pass the Hat" to raise $10,000 by the end of August (this month), in order to cover the publication costs for every author's book that the press has committed to publishing this fall.

UDP has been in continuous operation for 15 years. Editor-at-Large Julien Poirier writes:

In a big way, the Presse is now in the process of changing hands from the original editors into younger hands. It's exciting---and the right time for that to happen.

Ugly Duckling is a great press---one of the best poetry presses of the 21st century. I was there from the beginning and I've seen it all happen. [...]

Fifteen more years? Let's get it started right: Do you think you might be able to kick in the keep the Presse in clover?

Where would we be without The Complete Minimal Poems by Aram Saroyan, Clark Coolidge's This Time We Are Both, Dodie Bellamy's Barf Manifesto, or Simone White's Unrest? The next generation of those are now in the pipeline! Let's help 'em make it out to bookshelves!
