You might have noticed we have a new look! The redesign of poetryfoundation.org culminates a nearly two-year project that aims to bring users an engaging, immersive online reading experience while making the range of poems, biographies, podcasts, articles, and other content from our archive more discoverable. Here’s a rundown of the enhancements we’ve made to the site.

Easier browsing of poems, biographies, and other content:

  • We’ve updated the Explore Poems page, where users can filter our database of more than 40,000 poems by topic, school, period, form, and region. Users can also access our database of more than 4,000 poet biographies through the Explore Poets page.
  • We’ve created Collections—compilations of poems, articles, podcasts, and related content—to facilitate browsing by topic or theme. Have a particular subject or area of interest in mind but aren’t sure where to begin? We recommend starting here.

Expanded access to Poetry magazine:

  • We’ve revamped the Poetry magazine archive to make it easier for users to quickly find issues dating back to 1912. Desktop users: give the timeline feature a spin!
  • We’ve improved the online reading experience for recent issues of Poetry magazine. Users can now use the previous and next buttons to page through an issue’s contents.
  • We’ve updated the layout for an issue’s table of contents, which now includes excerpts of a selection of poems and links to contributor biographies.

Enhanced content:

  • We’ve added excerpts for featured poems and articles on landing pages so that users can preview content while they browse.
  • We’ve revamped poem pages to include the poet’s biography and other related material in an easily accessible “drawer” on the side of the page, while more poems by the author can be found at the bottom of the page.
  • We’ve added a calendar view to our list of upcoming events at the Poetry Foundation.
  • We’ve optimized the site for mobile devices to make all of our content readable on any screen size.

… and many more updates! We hope you enjoy the new poetryfoundation.org as much as we do. Have feedback or experience any issues with the new site? Please email us at [email protected].

Happy reading!
