Information on This Year’s Process
Each year, submissions for the Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowships open in March. This year, as in years past, a small group of past contributors was commissioned to read submissions and send along their top picks from their assigned submissions. The three readers were then joined by six self-nominated Poetry Foundation staff to read all top picks and choose the finalists for this year, and they will also choose the five Fellows, to be announced in early September.

In line with the ongoing examination of all existing processes and policies across the Poetry Foundation, the submissions and selection processes will be thoroughly examined and discussed before the Foundation begins accepting applications for the 2022 Fellowships. The Foundation intends to provide information about any future changes and encourages feedback.
