Excerpt From Jackie Wang's Say Bye to Reason and Hi to Everything Book Published at Document
Document has published an excerpt from Jackie Wang's forthcoming Tiny Spelunker of the Oneiro-Womb, Dream Selections Oct. 7, 2014 - Feb. 4, 2015, which is part and parcel of the Andrew Durbin-engined Capricious Press project we mentioned not long ago, Say Bye to Reason and Hi to Everything (launching in NY tonight). Conor Manning writes that the books--among them work by Dodie Bellamy, Cecilia Corrigan (with illustrations by Jocelyn Spaar), Amy De'Ath, Lynne Tillman, and Wang--"challenge the the lines of literary genre and [explore] topics ranging from sexuality and politics to personal narratives and art criticism." An excerpt of the excerpt, and of course refer to Document for correct breaks:
Being loved. It was a nice feeling.
The feeling of having someone to return to...
Everyone around us was in on it.
The city knew. The city was waiting for the sexual tension to break.
Everything felt totally natural. Bids for connection were reciprocated--I
had a feeling of being understood without speaking. Our bed was public. I kept returning to it like a nest in the sand.
Love me in this bed.
One minds gets folded into another.
It is the event of recognition, which is the event of love.
You're welcome. See you tonight!
