#Bringbackourgirls—Mama’s Boy?

Every wife must apologize for not being her husband’s
mother? But he will not forgive you. The absence
of his mother's kiss is the scar of repeated
wounding. He marries you too young, before
he littered his seeds along the road. This is why
he can't get a young wife from the market. You
have used him up and witched him, made him old
in all the wrong places.

You have cursed him. Made his beer warm
too quick, made the bottle too slippy, too hard
for him to hold on. You make his head lop-
sided. Make the beer miss his lips. His shirt
gulps the beer instead. It is all you. You make him
smell like piss in his brother’s yard. You leave him
without choices. It is because of you.
His knees don’t work. He will not let you heal
his wounds. You wanted to be a doctor, so you must
have wished him crippled in all these ways. No
glory for a man who enters war wounded.
