This just in from North Tyneside:
MIXING boxing with poetry will prove a knockout combination, arts chiefs believe.
A group of poets will pull no punches when they compete in a boxing ring at the Saville Exchange in North Shields. Eight “performance” poets from the North East will read their work, matched against each other in boxing-style bouts.
When the bell rings to mark the end of each contest, the audience will judge who are the winners. The event will culminate in a final, with the champion being presented with a Lonsdale-style belt.
