Hispanic Heritage Month

Originally Published: September 16, 2010

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, which kicked of yesterday, here's a glimpse at a few events featuring the work of Latino poets.

Letras Latinas, the literary program of the Institute for Latino Studies at the University of Notre Dame, is sponsoring six literary events this month that take place throughout the country. Letras Latinas will partner with Cave Canem and the Poetry Society of America, among others, to make the events possible.

Here's something to check out tonight (if you happen to be in the Los Angeles area):

“Celebrando Chicana Poetry”

Letras Latinas partners with the Poetry Society of America, University of Southern California, and Southwest Airlines to present Diana Garcia, Maria Melendez, and Emmy Pérez, who will perform their work at “Festival de Flor y Canto. Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow.” The reading will take place on Thursday, September 16th at 6:15 PM at Friends Lecture Hall, Doheny Memorial Library, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA.
