Augmented Reality Poetry

Amaranth Borsuk, Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Humanities at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is working on a project that brings together augmented reality and poetry. According to this article, Borsuk spoke about her project at the Futurebook conference in London:

"I became interested in digital poetics. I wanted to make a book of poems that would talk about what the place of a book is when we are spending more and more time reading on screens.

There's a strong correlation between new tech and old tech, especially for readers... As a poet, my medium is language, so if I'm going to use another medium on top, there has to be a reason."

As for how the book works:

Her book is available as a handbound physical book, which contains no text, but instead geometric markers that prompt readers to go to the website Between Page and Screen, and then use their webcam to display the markers - at which point, words pop up from the page, on-screen.
