Catherine Wagner & Christine Hume Read/Perform at MOCAD
Hey Detroit friends! Be sure to check out Cathy Wagner and Christine Hume performing at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit this Thursday (7pm, and it's free!). To give you a sense of what to expect, here are a few words on Wagner:
Catherine Wagner will perform poems from her new book, Nervous Device (City Lights). The book takes inspiration from William Blake’s “bounding line” to explore the poem as a body at the intersection between poet and audience. Using this figure as a model for various sexual, political and economic interactions, Wagner’s poems shift between seductive lyricism and brash fragmentation as they negotiate the failure of human connection in the twilight of American empire.
And Hume:
Christine Hume will perform from “Speech Talks Back,” a critical-creative curation of sound art that uses public speech overlaid with live, reflective commentary.
