Black Lives Matter: An Updated Roundup of Worthy Reads

Originally Published: November 17, 2016

Some very kind folks (read: Professor H.K. Hummel and students at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock) were taking a look at our two-year-old post, "Black Lives Matter: A Roundup of Worthy Reads," and decided it could use a little update. They've rounded up more current BLM-related reads here at #BlackLivesMatter: A Poetry Reader. "The list is not meant to be exhaustive. Instead, it's a starting place for reading poetry that celebrates, protests, calls out, and responds. We believe Black Lives Matter. Justice matters. Poetry matters. Read with us. Start somewhere. Start here. (And if you have suggestions for additions to the reader, please let us know)."

Included here is work from Danez Smith, Yusef Komunyakaa, Juan Felipe Herrera, Ross Gay, Douglas Kearney, and more, as well as a link to "Situations" by John Lucas and Claudia Rankine. Take a look.
