Elisa Gabbert is set to take over as the New York Times Book Review's poetry columnist, replacing David Orr, who will focus on his writing. "We’re not losing him entirely, though," says Greg Cowles in his editor's note. But Denver-based Gabbert, author of five books of poetry, "will range widely as a columnist, using the space for roundups and standalone reviews as well as broader essays. Her first column will appear next week." More officially:

The Book Review is delighted to welcome Elisa Gabbert as its next poetry columnist. Elisa is the author of five collections of poetry, essays and criticism, most recently “The Word Pretty,” which was a New York Times Editors’ Choice, and “The Unreality of Memory and Other Essays,” coming this year. Her writing has appeared in the Book Review and The New York Times Magazine, The New York Review of Books, A Public Space, The Paris Review Daily, The London Review of Books, The Guardian Long Read and many other publications.

Congrats to Gabbert! Can't wait to read.
