Letter from Poetry Magazine
Letter to the Editor
BY Sunil Iyengar
Dear Editor,
Thanks to Conor O'Callaghan for his survey of the consonantal riches and symbolic aptness that so much of Louis MacNeice's poetry affords ["His Master's Voice," March 2007]. The fact that O'Callaghan omits several other fine poems from his discussion only testifies that MacNeice would be best served by a judicious selected poems. It is high time we regarded MacNeice not only as fully sprung from Auden's overcoat, but as never having sought refuge there in the first place.
