Letter from Poetry Magazine
Letter to the Editor
BY Gwendolyn Jensen
Dear Editor,
I know I must speak for many readers in saying that your translation issues are very fine. But I believe I speak for others when I also say that you should provide the original language as well as the translation. Most readers of Poetry have more than one language, and even those of us whose second and third languages have languished would find pleasure in the original.
Space must be an important consideration for you; perhaps you could provide the original at the bottom of the page, with slashes between lines, and in very small print.
Many readers would appreciate this.
