Dear Editor,

Calling people one disagrees with “lazy” demontrates a lack of patience or discipline to explain that disapproval in civil discourse. Suggesting that their ideas are ill-conceived shows a lack of rational argument to justify that dismissal. Calling said people “bastards” is an ad hominem attack.

Defending poetry is as pointless and unnecessary as defending sunrise. It has survived everything else, whether it was defended or not, and it will survive philistines, too.
