Graphic, In Case
By Vernita Hall
After the Worldometer linear graph, showing over three million global cases of COVID-19
Let
me
paint
the
lintel
of
your
door
with
lamb’s
blood
drape your
bed with
garlands of
garlic feint
the stalking
hunter with
mock-broken
wing cast out
the ghoul with
wizard-wanded
wave If
all else fails
then let me
take your place
Should the fever
break you
let me build a fire
upon the mountaintop
to lead your spirit home
I’ll hold your breath
until all mine stops
should the angel pass us by or not
me
paint
the
lintel
of
your
door
with
lamb’s
blood
drape your
bed with
garlands of
garlic feint
the stalking
hunter with
mock-broken
wing cast out
the ghoul with
wizard-wanded
wave If
all else fails
then let me
take your place
Should the fever
break you
let me build a fire
upon the mountaintop
to lead your spirit home
I’ll hold your breath
until all mine stops
should the angel pass us by or not
