“You’re slim and you’re weak.
You got the teeth
of the hydra upon you,”
he didn’t know
he meant my
sucked dry rag
of a body,
needled for the IV.

To say or do
what you don’t think
you mean is scary—
and embarrassing.
But you have to
put it in perspective.
You have to wonder
how intention
differs from momentum
anyway, which one
came first.

I think you’re taking
momentum
too personally.
I bet you say,
“Oops!”
when a bird swoops by
