Ceasefire Haiku

All night, the somber
Song of chimes. The winter wind
Grieves for Gaza too.

____

Rage:
the broken
heart

of a broken
world,
breaking

free
to free
the truth.

____

Shame: a legacy
Your descendants will decry,
Bemoan, be cursed by.

____

To remain silent
Is consent, is wrong, is more
Deadly than more bombs.

____

You can’t really see
Me, except as your conscience-
Cleanser, your blindfold.

____

When I condemn crimes,
You call me culprit, settle
My heart to scrub yours.

____

The river, the sea.
Between them, endless cruelty.
The ache to be
The ache to be free.

____

Fear, even trauma-
Souled, is a prison. You’ve sold
Out, not gotten out.

____

Killed: those who counted
The killed. The uncounted, un-
Accounted for, more.
