Franklin Bruno

Franklin Bruno is the author of two chapbooks of poetry, most recently Policy Instrument (Lame House), and a critical monograph on Elvis Costello's Armed Forces (in Continuum's 33 1/3 series). His essays and reviews have appeared in The Nation, The Believer and Village Voice, and online in Slate and Salon. As a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, he has recorded and toured extensively, as the frontman of Nothing Painted Blue, as a solo artist, and currently with The Human Hearts. Upcoming releases include Local Currency (Fayettenam Records), which collects home-recorded seven-inch and compilation releases from the 1990s, and a collaboration with The Mountain Goats' John Darnielle. He holds a doctorate in philosophy from UCLA, and has also taught at Northwestern University and Bard College. He lives and writes in Jackson Heights.
