For this activity, you will need an adult, something to write with, and something to write on. First, make a list of all the most famous people you can think of on your own. Why are they famous? What is special about them?

Now watch this video inspired by Naomi Shihab Nye’s “Famous.” In this poem, the poet calls many surprising things “famous,” like tears, birds, and buttonholes. What other sorts of things aren’t famous in the regular way but should be? What is famous to you that isn’t famous to anyone else?

Now, think: Who and what thinks you are famous? Write the story of what makes you famous, and what is special about you.
