Cecilia Caballero is a Los Angeles-based Afro-Chicana poet, creative nonfiction writer, adjunct professor of ethnic studies, and co-editor of the book The Chicana Motherwork Anthology (2019). Caballero’s poetry and prose has been published in Dryland, Epiphany, the Acentos Review, Raising Mothers, Gathering: A Women Who Submit Anthology, and elsewhere. Her poetry has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and a Science Fiction Poetry Association Rhysling Award. She is an alum of workshops and fellowships with Tin House, Macondo, and the Women’s National Book Association. As a teaching artist, Caballero’s mission is to cultivate communal spaces of storytelling and social justice for BIPOC folks. She has been invited to facilitate workshops at East Los Angeles College, the University of Arizona, and San Jose State University, among others.
