Maria McLeod
Maria McLeod is a poet, freelance writer and documentarian. She has completed three book-length oral histories and is currently writing a biography. She has served as the primary interviewer for two video documentaries—one on the history of Issaquah, Washington, and another on Native American youth at risk, which she co-directed. In 2005, she authored Washington State Department of Ecology, Historically Speaking: 1970-2005. McLeod has been nominated for three Pushcart Prizes for her poetry and was a recipient of the Indiana Review Poetry Prize. She has published both poetry and short fiction in prominent literary journals throughout the United States, such as Pearl, Painted Bride Quarterly, Puerto Del Sol, PMS: Poemmemoirstory, Crab Orchard Review and others. Originally from the Detroit area, she resides in Bellingham, Washington.
