Ralph Burns

Ralph Burns is author of But Not Yet, winner of the Blue Lynx Prize (Lynx House Press, 2017); Ghost Notes, winner of the FIELD Poetry Prize (Oberlin College Press, 2001); Swamp Candles, winner of the Iowa Poetry Prize (University of Iowa Press, 1996); Mozart’s Starling (Ohio Review, 1990); Any Given Day (University of Alabama Press, 1986); Windy Tuesday Nights, (Milkweed Editions, 1984); and Us, winner of the Great Lakes Colleges Award for the Best First Book of Poetry (Cleveland State University Poetry Center, 1983). His poems have been published in Poetry, The Atlantic, Field, Southern Review, Georgia Review, The Common, the Ohio Review, Ploughshares, The Image journal, and other publications.

Burns edited Crazy Horse journal periodically from 1985 to 2000 and taught and codirected the creative writing program at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock. He has received two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts in Poetry, the Porter Prize, and arts fellowships from the Indiana Arts Commission and the Arkansas Arts Council. He lives in New Jersey.
