Ronald Puppo

B. 1954

Ronald Puppo is a translator and research fellow in translation studies at the Universitat de Vic–Universitat Central de Catalunya. He was a mentor in Catalan translation for the American Literary Translators Association from 2015 to 2016 and led the 2015 international Catalan-English translation workshop at the Institut Ramon Llull in Barcelona. He has published numerous articles and reviews, notably in Babel, Catalan Review, and Translation Review, as well as book chapters for Reichenberger, Routledge, and others. As a translator and an editor, his annotated translations from Catalan include Selected Poems of Jacint Verdaguer (University of Chicago, 2007), Mount Canigó: A tale of Catalonia (Barcelona–Woodbridge: Barcino/Tamesis, 2015; awarded the 2016 Serra d’Or Critics Prize for Research in Catalan Studies), and One Day of Life is Life: Selected Poetry and Prose of Joan Maragall (London–Barcelona: Fum d’Estampa Press, 2020; winner of the 2021 Ramon Llull International Literary Translation Award).
