Robert Mezey, a poet, translator, and critic, died on Saturday. He was 85. Mezey was a professor of English and poet-in-residence at Pomona College. For the Los Angeles Times, Dana Gioia writes more:

Blessed oblivion, infinitely forgiving,
Perpetual peace and silence and complete
Absence of pain. Now that’s what I call living.
