Caroline Sinavaiana-Gabbard

Caroline Sinavaiana was born in Utulei, a village in Tutuila, American Samoa. She earned her BA from Sonoma State University, her MA in folklore from the University of California Berkeley, and her PhD in American studies from the University of Hawaiʻi. She is the author of the poetry collection Alchemies of Distance (2002), and her creative and scholarly work has been published in many international journals and anthologies. She now lives in Mānoa Valley on the island of Oahu, where she is a professor of creative writing and Pacific literature at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
