Exiled South African poet and editor Christine Douts Qunta was born in Kimberly, South Africa. She ended her formal education during the 1970s to devote herself to antiapartheid political activism and has been an organizer for the South African Students Organization and the Black People’s Convention in the Western Cape. After being detained by the government for her activism, Qunta moved to Zimbabwe. The editor of the prose anthology Women in Southern Africa (1987), Qunta is also the author of the poetry collection Hoyi Na! Azania: Poems of an African Struggle (1979).
