Ciara Darnise Miller (she/her), a native of Chicago, earned both an MFA and MA in poetry and African American/African diaspora studies from Indiana University. She also earned a BA in liberal arts from Sarah Lawrence College. Her poems and essays have been published in collections including Critical Insights: Alice Walker (Salem Press, 2012), The Whiskey of Our Discontent (Haymarket Books, 2017), and The BreakBeat Poets Vol. 2: Black Girl Magic (Haymarket Media, 2018), as well as periodicals including Mosaic, Fjords Review, African American Review, Callaloo, and Muzzle, among others. She lives in Chicago, where she is a writing professor at DePaul University, an Afro-American studies professor at Kennedy King College, and the CEO of Miller’s Learning Center (MLC), a test prep and career support company.
