James Matthew Wilson is the author of the poetry collections The Strangeness of the Good (Angelico, 2020), winner of the Catholic Media Award for poetry in 2021, The Hanging God (Angelico, 2018), and Some Permanent Things (Wiseblood, 2018), among other books. His work appears regularly in a wide range of magazines and newspapers, including The Wall Street Journal, New Criterion, First Things, and the National Review.

Wilson was winner of the 2017 Hiett Prize from the Dallas Institute of Humanities & Culture, the 2022 Parnassus Prize from Memoria Press, and the 2007 and 2009 Lionel Basney Award from the Conference on Christianity & Literature. He is the Cullen Foundation Chair of English Literature at the University of St. Thomas (Houston), where he directs the MFA program in Creative Writing. Wilson also serves as poet-in-residence for the Benedict XVI Institute, poetry editor of Modern Age magazine, and series editor of Colosseum Books.
