Jim Brodey

1942—1993

Poet and rock music critic Jim Brodey was born in Brooklyn in 1942. A literary figure in 1960s New York City, he was friends with many experimental poets, artists, and musicians. He was the author of the poetry collections Heart of the Breath: Poems 1979-1992 (1996), Judyism (1980), Piranha Yoga (1977), Blues of the Egyptian Kings (1975), and Identikit (1967). He also published poems in Paris Review, C: A Journal of Poetry, The World, 432 Review, and his own little magazine, Clothesline. He died in 1993 in San Francisco.
