John N. Morris
John N. Morris was an American writer, poet, and gerontologist from Gloucester, Massachusetts. His books include Alone at Sea: Gloucester in the Age of the Dorymen, 1623–1939 (Commonwealth Editions, 2010); Then: Essays in Reconstruction (The Press at Washington University, 2002); Selected Poems: John N. Morris(Washington University in Saint Louis, 2002); and The Life Beside This One (Macmillan Publishing Company, 1975), which was a finalist for the National Book Awards in poetry in 1976. Morris was a professor of English for 30 years at Washington University in Saint Louis. He also served as Director Emeritus at the Institute for Aging Research at Hebrew SeniorLife in Boston.
