Karen Leona Anderson

Karen Leona Anderson is a poet and the author of Receipt (Milkweed Editions, 2016) and Punish honey (Carolina Wren Press, 2009). Her work has been published in Pleiades, Little Star, Alaska Quarterly Review, ZYZZYVA, The Best American Poetry 2012, and other journals and anthologies. She is the recipient of a Maryland State Arts Grant. 

Anderson earned a PhD in English at Cornell University, an MFA in poetry at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, an MA in creative writing at Victoria University, and a BA in English literature at McGill University. 

She is a professor of English at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, a 2018–2020 Aldom-Plansoen College Professor, and the director of the VOICES Reading Series.
