Leah Umansky (she/her) is a middle and high school English teacher, curator, collagist, and writer in New York City. She is the author of poetry collections, including Of Tyrant (The Word Works, 2024), and the chapbooks Straight Away the Emptied World (2016) and the Mad Men–inspired Don Dreams and I Dream (2014), both with Kattywompus Press. Umansky earned an MFA in poetry at Sarah Lawrence College, and has curated and hosted The COUPLET Reading Series in New York City since 2011.

Umansky’s creative work has been published in The New York Times, the Academy of American Poets’ Poem-A-Day series, Pleiades, Poetry, and American Poetry Review. She has taught workshops to writers of all ages in such places as Poetry School, Hudson Valley Writers Center, and Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Visible Ink Program.
