Lis Sanchez
Lis Sanchez (she/her) grew up in California and Alaska and graduated from the University of Hawai’i with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Sanchez earned a Master of Arts in English from the University of North Carolina and a PhD in English from the University of Georgia, where, under the mentorship of Judith Ortiz Cofer, she designed and completed the English department’s first graduate area of specialization in Contemporary Latino Literature in the United States.
Sanchez received a 2002 North Carolina Arts Council Artist Fellowship and has been awarded literary prizes from The Greensboro Review, Prairie Schooner, RHINO Poetry, and Nimrod.
