Marie-Claire Bancquart

Marie-Claire Bancquart is a French poet, novelist, essayist, critic, and professor who has published over two dozen collections of poetry. Her many books include Projets alternés, Mémoire d’abolie, Partition, and Opportunité des oiseaux. Her most recent volume of poetry, Explorer l'incertain, was published in 2010.
 
Bancquart is the recipient of multiple honors and awards, and her work has been featured in a number of French literary journals, including La Sape, Autre Sud, Nu(e), Friches, Poésie 2002, and Arabesques, and on the Poezibao website. In addition to poetry, Bancquart has written critical books and essays on a wide range of topics, including France and surrealism.
 
Bancquart is a professor emerita at the Université Paris-Sorbonne and is the president of the arts council of La Maison de la Poésie. She lives in Paris and is married to the musician-composer Alain Bancquart.
