Patssi Valdez is a Chicana artist and painter. Valdez participated in multimedia works of cross-genre performances, visual arts, and poetry as an original member of the 1970s L.A.-based avant-garde arts collective, ASCO (Spanish for “nausea”). She has since been awarded fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the J. Paul Getty Trust Fund for the Visual Arts, and the Brody Arts Fellowship. Her art is housed in museum collections around the U.S., including the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
